Callie is in love with theater. But her singing is less than Broadway ready. So, rather than auditioning for her middle school's production of Moon Over Mississippi, she resigns herself to set designing. But with opening night fast approaching, applause is not promising when the budget for the drama department is dreadful, her handle on carpentry is unsteady, ticket sales are on a downturn, the actors loathe each other, and drama persists on and off the stage.
